New York & London: Harper & Bros, 1899. Israel Zangwill (1864-1926), journalist, dramatist, and political activist, popularized the expression "melting pot" for the emmigrant experience in America. This is a Very Good Plus copy of a Later Printing of the First Edition. Purple cloth binding (faded to a green on the spine) with gilt lettering. The decoration on the front board is different that the wings seen on the 1898 First American edition. Clean text; 524 pages, with 4 pages of publisher's adverts in the rear. Mild rub to the margins, small spot on the front board. A respectable copy of this work by a major Jewish writer of the early 20th Century. No dustjacket. Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. Later Printing.. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus/No Jacket.

This is a Fine copy of the First Edition Thus, reprinting from the fifth impression of 1925. Illustrated by George Hutchinson; with a foreword by Israel Cohen. Bright blue cloth binding with gilt lettering on the spine. Clean text; 156 pages. The striking dustwrapper is Very Good, with a Plus due to its still-bright colours, although there is edgewear and some chipping. In an archival plastic protector. Size: 12mo - over 6" - 7" tall.
