New York & London: G.W. Carleton & Company; S. Low & Co., 1878. This is an interesting (and scarce) parody of Mark Twain's "The Innocents Abroad," which had come out in 1869. Published anonymously; per WorlCat, the author is identified asGeorge Douglas Tallman, who wrote at least two other humorous books. He seems to have vanished from the pages of literary history, as Twain has not. This is a Very Good Plus copy of the First Edition; held by twelve libraries worldwide but unusual in the trade. Brown pebbled cloth binding with decorative stamping on the covers; gilt lettering on the spine. Clean text; 252 pages. Mild foxing at the endpapers. Mildly bumped, and a bit of rub to the head and foot of the spine, but really in quite wonderful condition. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus/No Jacket. First Edition.
