New York: Redfield, 1853. Sir Jonah Barrington (1760-1814) was a political supporter of the Irish Parliamentary Party. He was also a popular memoirist, despite a personal life that was plagued by scandal. These sketches were first published in the 1830s; this is a Very Good (Plus) copy of a Reprint Edition. Rather uncommon today. Green cloth binding, ruled and stamped. The spine has a decorative image of Barrington. Very mildly bumped. The colors and the gilt spine remain quite bright. Clean text; 540 pages. Unfoxed, with exception of the frontis illustration and the Title Page. One signature toward the middle of the book is a bit cracked, but holding nicely. A solid copy of an Irish classic. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Reprint.. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus/No Jacket.
