Boston: Loring, Publisher, 1864. Alcott (1832-1888) was impoverished, but not intellectually, and received her education from the leading transcendental lights of the day. She was an Abolitionist and a Feminist who served as a nurse in the Civil War. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition (it was revised and reissued in 1882). An uncommon title. Green cloth binding with gilt lettering on the spine and front cover. Clean text; 297 pages; double frontis drawings with tissue guard. Mild rubbing at the margins, with a bit of fray on the foot of the spine. A sound copy, and not common, but is a bit cocked. Size: 12mo - over 6" - 7" tall. First Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. First Edition.
