Albuquerque: University of New Mexico, 1951. This is a "semi-fictional" biography of Dr. Carlos Montezuma ("Wassaja" in his native tongue). an Apache boy sold by the Pima to an Anglo who raised him. With the rise of the various Native American rights movements, these early heroes are being rediscovered. This is a Fine copy of the First Edition, a typical lovely production by the University of New Mexico Press. Gray cloth binding with red lettering on the front cover and spine. Clean text; ix, 273 pages, with Appendices. Very bright and fresh. The dustjacket is Very Good (Plus) to Near Fine. Very bright, but shows some light edgewear. In an archival plastic protector.
