Smooth calf , ruled in gilt; five raised bands on the spine, highly decorated in gilt; labels in black and gilt; numbers of the set in gilt on the lower spine. Clean texts; 338 and 348 pages. Marbled edges and endpapers. Some very light rubbing at the margins. There is evidence of bookplates having been removed from the front paste-down. These are ASSOCIATION COPIES, with the discreet stamp on the second free endpaper of "Estate of Henry Farnam, New Haven, CT." Farnam (1803-1883) was a surveyor on the Erie Canal, who eventually rose as a railroad president. . Reprint Edition. Full-Leather. Near Fine/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
