Bombay: Alliance Press, 1863. This is a study and biography, by an educated Indian, that offers insights on colonial India in the mid-19th century. Harris was born in 1824, the son of a beggar, and eventually rose to become editor of th "Hindoo Patriot." An important source and Rare (Four copies held in the US, three in the UK). Full leather binding, with gilt decorations and raised bands on the spine. Clean text; 385 pages, all edges gilt. Unfortunately, this is a Good Only copy. While the textblock is quite acceptable, bright and fresh, the covers are only held together by a massive application of cello tape; the spine is partially demolished. Please note the condition issue. Quercus must offer this as a Binding Copy, in need of repair or restoration. An excellent candidate for a nice rebind.. First Edition. Half-Leather. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. First Edition.
