Boston: James R. Osgood and Company, 1882. A biography of two of America's most famed actors: written by the daughter of Junius Brutus and the sister of Edwin. The notorious brother John Wilkes is not included; Asia was to write about him, but she kept it secret, and it was not published until 1938. This is part of the "American Actor Series" edited by the critic Laurence Hutton (1843-1904). Not a common title. First published in 1881; this is a Near Fine copy of a Later Printing from one year later. Blue decorative cloth binding, stamped in black and with a gilt mask of Tragedy on the front cover; titled in black and gilt on the spine. Clean text; 194 pages, indexed. The spine is slightly darkened and there is some light rub to the margins. A very nice copy, and an important source for American theatrical history... Later Printing. Decorative Cloth.
