New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1936. This is the first of what became a series of collaborations by the American poet/scholars Dudley Fitts (1903-1968) and Robert Fitzgerald (1910-1985); their translations from the Greek became the gold standard throughout the Twentieth Century. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition (stated). Tan cloth binding with a paper label on the spine. Clean text; 91 pages, including Commentary at the end. Decorations by Elizabeth Ewing. This copy has been SIGNED by the translators on the FFEP and INSCRIBED to the musician Allen Bernard Sly, who wrote the music for this version; he is named in the acknowledgements. A sound copy, that has darkened around the margins. The dustjacket is complete (unclipped). Showing edgewear around the margins with chipping at the head and foot of the spine, which has darkened considerably. In an archival plastic protector.. Signed by Translator. First Edition.
