1 Mussolini, Benito My Autobiography
New York Charles Scribner's Sons 1928 First Edition. Hardcover Near Fine No Jacket
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1928. The Duce's approved version of his life, from a time prior to his alliance with Hitler; serving as a good reminder of the world's flirtation with fascism prior to World War II. This is a Near Fine copy of the First Edition, which is now uncommon. The Foreward is by Richard Washburn Child (1881-1935), former Ambassador to Italy, who was on Mussolini's payroll and probably is the true author. Bright green cloth binding with gilt lettering and the fasces on the front panel. Bright and clean text; 318 pages, indexed. Mildly bumped and the edges a bit tanned, else Fine. No dustjacket. Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. First Edition.. Hard Cover. Near Fine/No Jacket. First Edition.

2 Mussolini, Benito The Cardinal's Mistress
New York Albert & Charles Boni 1928 Later Printing. Hardcover Very Good Plus Very Good
New York: Albert & Charles Boni, 1928. Prior to his more prominent career as a Fascist Dictator, Benito dabbled in the arts (as did Hitler); here he presents an anti-clerical bodice-ripper, which, alas, indicates he was wise to change his career path, at least until that day he was trussed up in the square. This is a Very Good Plus copy of the Second Printing of the First Edition (published same month as the first printing). Black cloth binding with titles stamped in the blind and filled with red and green. Translation by Hiram Motherwell. Clean text; 232 pages. Mildly bumped, with spotting on the edges. The rather spectacular dustjacket, in black and purple (as the prose?), is unclipped, has several chips along the spine and the top of the front panel. This work is (thankfully) quite scarce these days. In an archival plastic protector. Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. Later Printing.. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus/Very Good. Dust jacket present.
