1 Hobson, Bulmer (Editor) Saorstat Eireann. Irish Free State Official Handbook
Dublin The Talbot Press 1932 First Edition. Hardcover Near Fine No Jacket
Dublin: The Talbot Press, 1932. The Official Handbook of the Irish Free State, a publication of the Irish government. (The Free State was established by the Anglo-Irish Treaty of 1921, replacing the Republic as proclaimed during the Easter Uprising of 1916. It gave Ireland status as a Dominion, which lasted until the establishment of modern Eire in 1937.) The anonymous editor was Bulmer Hobson, an important figure in Irish Republican history. This is a very handsome book, with brightly illustrated boards done in a Celtic design. Profusely illustrated by many prominent Irish artists; over thirty chapters on all aspects of the history, culture, government, geology, art, literature, etc of the country. 324 Pages plus 150 pages of adverts in the rear. A rear pocket contains the beautiful Ordinance Survey map of Ireland, which is rarely still present. This is the best copy Quercus has seen: everything bright and crisp, with only a tiny hint of wear to the tips, else Fine. This is a delightful book to read or just admire. In an archival plastic protector.. First Edition.. Decorative Cloth. Near Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. First Edition.

Dublin: The Talbot Press, 1932. The Official Handbook of the Irish Free State, a publication of the Irish government. (The Free State was established by the Anglo-Irish Treaty of 1921, replacing the Republic as proclaimed during the Easter Uprising of 1916.
