London: S. Lee, 1888. An erotic tale of a girl gone wrong that is often compared to Cleland's "Fanny Hill," and others of the picaresque genre, such as "Moll Flanders" or "Tom Jones." Very mild in its eroticism, relying on circumlocation rather than its opposite. Quite scarce; almost all copies are institutionally held in the UK, and Quercus could venture that this Victorian reissue is more rare than the 18th-century editions. This is a Very Good (Plus) copy. Full vellum binding with gilt-filled ruling and decorations on the front cover. The text is clean and fresh; 58 pages. The covers have a slight splay; typical surface dirt seen on vellum bindings. Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. First Thus.. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus/No Jacket. First Edition.
