HOW TO ORDER & PAY
You can order directly from QUERCUS RARE BOOKS using the website.
Or, send us an email. With your email address QUERCUS can send you a Paypal invoice. This also allows direct communication, always a plus!
Our books are also available through ABEbooks: http://www.abebooks.com/
ALIBRIS: http://www.alibris.com/
BIBLIO: http://www.biblio.com/
IOBA BOOKS: http://www.iobabooks.com/
[We no longer list on Amazon, whose policies "behind the scene" are rather hostile toward small-time booksellers such as QUERCUS.]
NOTE: The listing services charge very high commissions to the bookseller, even on the shipping cost paid to the USPS.
Some customers still send cash in the mail. So far, none have gone astray, but we do not reccommend this for rather obvious reasons!
Checks are accepted, but that may delay your order due to processing time. Although accepted in the past, we now discourage the use of money orders; increasing fraud has made this problematic for everyone.
For California residents we must add appropriate sales tax (currently 7.5%).
RETURNS:
QUERCUS RARE BOOKS wishes to have only satisfied customers. We do make an occasional mistake! Please let us know. Items are returnable for any reason within fourteen days of receipt (please email first before returning the item).
SHIPPING:
QUERCUS RARE BOOKS ships via the United States Postal Service. Our books are packaged protectively and include a tracking number.
In December 2020 the USPS posted this disclaimer:
"ALERT: USPS is experiencing unprecedented package increases and limited employee availability due to the impacts of Covid-19. We appreciate your patience and remain committed to delivering the holidays to you."
Domestic Standard Shipping is by Media Mail (currently $10 for the first book, $5 extra for more books in the same order). If you just cannot wait for the Great Book, we can ship via Priority Mail (usually $20 for the first book) or Flat-Rate Priority (usually $15 for the first book).
Orders valued at over $150 (or so) will be sent insured, at an added cost to the customer.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING:
Again due to the effects of the pandemic, many booksellers are experiencing rather astounding delays in their international shipments. Sometimes patience is rewarded, though. A book sent to Ireland in July 2020 did not arrive until October. But it did arrive!
QUERCUS RARE BOOKS ships often to customers in England, Ireland, or France with good results, but other countries (even within the EU) can be problematic in their delivery methods. Since we cannot control it, we may have to waive responsibility.
Recent policy changes and the resulting increases in INTERNATIONAL POSTAL RATES have been hard on the booksellers and their customers. Books are heavy, and the elimination of their surface rate has been an undue burden. For a single book, International First Class remains as the most reasonable option (currently about $25-30), but heavier book orders (over 4 pounds weight or $400 in value) will have to go via International Priority Flat Rate and may be pricey (currently costing $60-80).
